Person Centered Thinking (PCT) training serves as a foundation for all who are involved in supporting people with disabilities in Virginia. The training content and format were developed by The Learning Community for Person Centered Practices. All trainers who deliver PCT, have been credentialed by The Learning Community. At the training, participants acquire core skills to assure that people receive person centered supports and get better lives as a result. Participants commit to attend 2 full days of this skill-based, interactive training. The registration fee is used to offset the costs of trainers’ time and materials.
Multiple PCT training sessions will be offered across the state each year. PCT training is part of a larger initiative to spread person centered practices throughout Virginia. PCT training is made possible by generous contributions of time and resources from a variety of sources. These include Systems Transformation Grant (STG), a multi-agency initiative; the Office of Developmental Services, Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services; community services boards; training centers; provider organizations; and the Partnership for People with Disabilities at Virginia Commonwealth University.
